What are Functional Skills?

Functional Skills are nationally recognised qualifications in English and Maths. They're an alternative to GCSEs, accepted by employers and colleges across the UK. Level 2 is equivalent to a GCSE grade 4 (old grade C).

Is PL6 Ofsted registered?

PL6 Learning Hub is an Open Awards approved centre. We operate as an alternative provision and are registered with Plymouth City Council. Our safeguarding policies meet statutory requirements.

What's the class size?

Maximum 6 students per session. This allows us to give each learner individual attention while maintaining a supportive small-group environment.

Do you support exam access arrangements?

Yes. We support extra time, rest breaks, separate rooms, readers, scribes, and modified papers. Contact us to discuss your child's specific requirements.

How do I get my child started?

Simply call us on 07954 653919 or email Greg@pl6learninghub.co.uk. We'll arrange a visit so you can see the hub, meet the team, and discuss your child's needs.

What ages do you support?

We support learners of all ages, though most of our students are aged 11-16. We also support adults looking to gain Functional Skills qualifications.

What safeguarding measures are in place?

All staff are DBS checked. We have a comprehensive safeguarding policy, a designated safeguarding lead, and follow Plymouth City Council's safeguarding procedures. Policies are available on our Policies page.

Do you offer trial sessions?

Yes. We encourage all families to visit the hub first. This gives your child a chance to meet us and see the environment before committing. Call us to arrange a visit.
